Teen Tech Festival

Year 9 Design and Technology class participated in a live lesson (the rest of year 9 watched the recording) where specialists talked about sustainable issues and set the pupils a live brief.

Pupils set to work in teams finding problems and designing a more sustainable solution.

The Best six designs/ideas were selected from HLA and taken to the Teen Tech award at Mira on 26th January 2023.

Pupils encountered a range of new and interactive technologies/ guest speakers and set to work developing their initial ideas with the professionals.

Pupils had to present their ideas to a panel of judges. The judges selected three top designs from all the different schools attending.

HLA pupils did brilliantly with team Mega Mind and the Recycled school Clothing app making it to the final top three selected by the judges.

Pupils from all the schools attending were given the final decision on which design should be taken further. Very proud to say that HLA team Mega mind won this and are into the next stage!

Teen Tech helps young people understand the opportunities in the science, technology and engineering industries, no matter what their gender or social background. There lively, focused, age-appropriate initiatives help young people 8-18 understand their potential and raise their aspirations.

The TeenTech Awards are for students aged 11 to 16 (Years 7 to 11) and 17 to 19 (Years 12 to 13) and you can work individually, or in a team of up to three. They present a wonderful and powerful opportunity to develop pupils potential and showcase qualities which are appreciated by both employers and further education.

The best projects go forward to the TeenTech Awards Final for judging and the winning school in each category will receive a cash prize.

We are backing team Megamind to go all the way!

Good luck Ruby, Reina & Destin
